Do you have a budget for something more than a temporary fix? Because if it rains heavy and your land has a slope, gravel alone is just gonna wash off to the sides - you need actual drainage. The cheapest way without breaking the bank is to make a road with a base of coarse stone (like rubble) compacted down, and then finer gravel on top; that system drains on its own and costs way less than asphalt. If you want something more permanent, you can combine that with simple side ditches (properly dug earth channels that move the water to the sides) so the water doesn't pool up in the middle of the road. Asphalt works but you'd have to ask them to slope it so it drains right, and it gets expensive.
