I recently bought a new spincast reel (not a very well-known brand, to be honest) and after using it just three times it's already making weird noises and jamming up when I cast. Is it defective or is there something I can do to fix it?
If it's jamming after so few uses, it's most likely a defective part or poor factory quality, especially if it's an unknown brand. Before you toss it, clean the reel thoroughly with fresh water (sometimes dirt or sand gets trapped inside) and check that nothing's blocking the internal mechanism, but honestly if it keeps doing it after cleaning, I'd return it if I can or swap it for a more reliable model. A decent spincast shouldn't lock up in three uses, so it's probably not something you're doing wrong - it's the reel itself.
