Minimalist shoes aren't a cure-all and they're not necessarily better. They make sense if you're healthy and ready for a gradual transition - your feet need months to adapt, not weeks, otherwise you risk injury. But if you're already comfortable in regular shoes, there's no reason to switch, trend or not. What matters most in running is consistency and form, not the type of sole.
