I got a small nail puncture in my tire last week and someone at the shop suggested using one of those tire sealant products instead of patching it. I'm skeptical about whether these really seal things up properly or if I'm just delaying getting a real repair. Has anyone actually used these products and had good results, or am I better off just getting it patched the traditional way?
Get it properly patched instead - tire sealants are really just a temporary fix to limp home, not a real repair 🚗 Those products work okay for getting you to a mechanic, but they can gunk up the inside of your tire and make a proper patch harder to do later. If the puncture is small and in the tread (which nails usually are), a patch or plug is cheap, reliable, and actually fixes the problem. Save the sealant for emergencies when you're stuck on the side of the road with no other option.
