Most folks aim to arrive 2 - 3 hours before the ceremony starts so the wedding party can do photos, hair and makeup touch-ups, and deal with any last-minute hiccups without stress. If you're in the wedding party you'll definitely want to be there earlier, but as a guest you can usually roll in 15 - 20 minutes before things kick off.
