My son is 3 months old and all these creams, oils and skincare products are confusing me. Friends have recommended to me: diaper cream, baby oil, wet wipes, special soap... Do you really need all of that or is it just marketing?
You really don't need much for that - a good diaper rash cream and lukewarm water for washing are completely sufficient, everything else is mostly just marketing.
Special baby soaps are unnecessary (water does the job), and you can skip baby oil if your son's skin isn't particularly dry. Wet wipes are convenient, but not really necessary either, especially with such a little baby I'd lean more towards water and soft cloths.
Trust your gut and start with the bare minimum - if his skin gives you problems later on, you can always add something then.

Lukewarm water does the job completely, seriously.
You can skip the baby oil if the skin isn't dry. Wet wipes are practical when you're out and about, but I'd be careful there too - they often have preservatives and stuff. If you're at home, just wash with water instead. A good diaper rash cream (zinc-based or something like that) is really the only thing I'd recommend having. Not as a preventative every day, but only when the skin is red. Otherwise you're just making things worse because then the skin can't breathe. Trust your instinct, not the marketing 💪
