It really depends on how often your baby wears it and how quickly it gets dirty. With my daughter back then, I washed the bodysuits and rompers after every wear or at most after wearing them 2-3 times, because they're constantly spitting up, sweating, or having accidents. Things that sit directly on the skin like underwear, pajamas, and bodysuits - I'd just wash those more often, so every 1-2 days is totally normal. Outer pieces like cardigans or light jackets, on the other hand, can easily go longer, so maybe only every 1-2 weeks if they haven't gotten anything spilled on them.
With bedding and bed sheets I'd be extra careful - I'd change those weekly, no matter how newborn the baby is. Diapers leak, spit-up, sweat - that stuff adds up. Towels you use for drying should go in the wash after every use, just like with us adults. For blankets and thicker things like cardigans or sweaters you can go longer if they look and smell clean - so every 2-3 weeks is completely fine. The important thing is just that you wash everything with a gentle detergent and rinse thoroughly so no residue stays on the baby's sensitive skin.
To be honest, I wash my little niece's clothes pretty often, because they just get dirty quickly - I'd say at least twice a week, sometimes more if she spits up a lot or sweats.
Baby skin is super sensitive, so I'd rather wash more frequently than less, especially with bodysuits and pajamas that are directly on the skin.
With jackets or knit sweaters, of course you don't need to wash as often - those can go longer. The important thing is to use a mild baby detergent so the sensitive skin doesn't get irritated.
It's practical to buy several sets so you don't have to wash constantly - then you only need to wash once a week instead of daily or every other day. With newborns, I'd say bodysuits and changing mats get changed more often (because spit-up and diaper leaks are normal), but jackets or pants that aren't directly on the body easily last a week. The best trick: find a good detergent for baby clothes and wash everything together - saves time and your little one always has clean stuff without you going crazy doing laundry every day.
