What can I do if my airline refunded me a credit instead of cash?

My flight got canceled back in March 2025, and the airline offered me a travel credit instead of a refund. I requested cash multiple times but they keep saying the credit is the only option available now. It's been over a year and I still haven't used it. Am I entitled to get my money back in actual cash?

It depends on your location - EU regulations require cash refunds for canceled flights, but US rules are way more lenient and mostly allow credits. Check your airline's policy and your local consumer protection laws, then file a complaint with your country's aviation authority if they're violating them, since sitting on this for over a year is ridiculous on their part.
