I'm 28 and I've realized I've just never gotten around to reading a lot of classics. Friends talk about Goethe, Tolstoy or Jane Austen and I have no idea what they're talking about. Which ones would you consider absolute must-reads that are actually worth it?
What are you actually interested in - more psychological depth, historical stories, or love stories? Honestly, with classics it's better to look at what personally appeals to you instead of just grinding through lists. If you like character studies, Dostoevsky's "Crime and Punishment" or Charlotte Brontë's "Jane Eyre" are absolutely brilliant. For epic stories, Tolstoy's "War and Peace" or "Anna Karenina" are legendary, but they're also incredibly long - some people prefer to start with shorter stuff like Goethe's "The Sorrows of Young Werther" or Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" to ease into it.
