Biophilic architecture is when buildings and interiors are designed with the maximum amount of natural elements: windows with views of greenery, natural materials, live plants, natural light. The idea is that humans are drawn to nature on a subconscious level, and when we're in these kinds of spaces, stress goes down, mood and productivity improve. Pretty much everyone's noticed that you work better in an office with a window overlooking a park than in a basement with no windows - that's biophilic architecture in action.

Have you ever noticed that in an office without windows you feel drowsy, but in a room with plants and natural light work flows easier? That's the whole idea - biophilic architecture is built on the fact that people instinctively feel better around nature, so designers intentionally incorporate greenery, wood, stone, natural light, and views of nature into buildings.

But there's a catch that rarely gets mentioned: all of this costs a lot, and not every house or office can afford proper landscaping, large windows, and natural materials everywhere. Sometimes you end up with what's called "bio-faking" - a few potted plants and laminate flooring instead of the real deal. There's some effect, but it's way weaker than in truly well-designed spaces.
