I'd like to get into scale modeling but I really don't know anything about it. I'm looking for something not too expensive to start with, like a scale car or plane model. Are there any brands that aren't too complicated for a beginner?

The thing is, it's more about picking the right type of model based on what you like to look at or use. A car to assemble is generally more doable for a beginner than a plane - fewer fragile parts, fewer technical adjustments after.

Tamiya especially has a whole "beginner" range where you only need glue and basic paint.
