The main difference comes down to viewing angles and color accuracy. VA panels have better contrast and deeper blacks since the liquid crystals block light more completely, but the picture quality suffers if you're watching from the side. IPS panels let you see the image clearly from wider angles and have more accurate colors, though the blacks aren't quite as dark and contrast isn't as punchy. For most living rooms where you're sitting straight-on, VA is fine and looks great, but if people sit at different angles or you care about color precision, IPS is worth it 📺

VA panels nail the contrast and black levels - darker blacks than IPS because the crystals physically twist to block more light - but IPS wins on viewing angles and color consistency from the sides. one thing folks overlook: VA's advantage disappears pretty quick if you're not sitting dead center, so if your couch is wide or angled, you might lose that contrast benefit. are you mostly watching from one spot, or do you have people sitting at different angles?

Mark Lee asker Mostly from one spot, so VA sounds better for me. Thanks!
