Planning to build a brick cottage in Tver Oblast, I want to do without additional external insulation. Is a wall of one and a half bricks (38 cm) enough or do I need the full two bricks?
Actually, a brick and a half in the Tver region is technically the minimum, but without insulation it's still gonna be pretty chilly, especially if it's a new house being built that way and the winters there are no joke.
Two bricks plus at least 50-100 mm of mineral wool between the brick and the interior finish will give you peace of mind and reasonable heating bills - that's a comfortable solution for that kind of climate.
A one-and-a-half brick wall isn't enough for Tver Oblast without insulation - you need at least two bricks (51 cm), and it's better to add another layer of mineral wool or polystyrene foam 10-15 cm thick, otherwise you'll get heat loss and condensation on the interior surfaces in winter.
