Why does my Stanley thermos keep coffee hot for way longer than my old one?

I picked up one of those trendy Stanley quencher tumblers last year and honestly it's ridiculous how long it keeps drinks at the right temperature. My old Contigo from like 2015 would go lukewarm in a couple hours but this thing keeps my coffee hot until lunchtime. Is it just better insulation or am I missing something?

the stanley quenchers have significantly better double-wall vacuum insulation than most tumblers from 2015, which is the main reason for the temperature retention difference. your contigo was probably using cheaper foam or simpler insulation designs, while the newer stanleys use thicker vacuum-sealed walls that minimize heat transfer way more effectively. it's basically the same tech that's been in high-end thermoses for decades but stanley finally made it affordable and trendy enough that everyone wanted one. the stainless steel construction also helps since it's a better thermal barrier than plastic, so you're getting multiple factors working together to keep that coffee hot for 6-8 hours instead of 2.
