I'm thinking about buying a 3D printer to make custom parts for my models. I've got a budget of up to €300 and I want something that prints small details well. Does anyone here use one and can recommend brands that work well for scale modeling?
Don't fall for the trap of thinking FDM will give you the detail you want for scale modeling with that budget - it gets frustrating later.
If you're really set on spending up to €300, go for an Anycubic Photon Mono or something similar - resin works way better for small, detailed pieces.
The trick that nobody really talks about is starting with cheap generic resin to test and dial in your settings before splurging on premium resin - you'll save money and learn your equipment without the stress of burning cash.
Another thing, factor in that you're gonna need decent ventilation and some PPE because resin is no joke, so that cost counts too.
For €300 it's tough to get one that does fine details even, honestly. Creality and Anycubic have models at that price like the Photon or the Mono, but they're resin, not FDM - and for modeling resin is actually better because the details come out way sharper.
Elegoo isn't bad either and costs less. What I'd recommend is looking for comparison videos because the quality really depends on the 3D file you're gonna use, most of the problems I see people having is with calibration and post-processing, not so much the printer itself.
