I'm planning a trip to Mexico in October and I'm not sure if it's safe to go to the Riviera Maya or Cancún at that time. I've seen that it's hurricane season but it's not clear to me which areas are safer or if I should wait until November.
I went to Playa del Carmen once in October and honestly it was pretty risky because a tropical storm hit right then, so I have respect for that time of year in the Caribbean. The Riviera Maya and Cancún are in the highest-risk zone during October - if you really want to go that time, consider Pacific beaches like Puerto Vallarta or Huatulco that have less hurricane probability, or just wait until November when the season starts calming down.
