A lot of younger people grew up seeing organized religion as rigid or tied to institutions they didn't trust, while still feeling like there's something bigger than themselves. They want the meaning and community part without what feels like outdated rules or baggage, so they're picking and choosing - meditation, nature spirituality, philosophy, whatever resonates personally. It's less about rejecting the sacred and more about wanting it on their own terms instead of inheriting someone else's framework.
