Why did NASA's Artemis missions keep getting delayed?

I've been following the Artemis program for a while now and it seems like every time they set a launch date, something else comes up. What's actually been holding up the lunar missions? Is it just budget stuff or are there actual technical problems they're working through?

The Artemis delays have been a mix of both technical and budget issues, honestly. The Space Launch System (SLS) rocket had to work through a ton of engineering challenges - heat shield problems, engine testing, structural stuff - and NASA wasn't about to rush those when they're sending people back to the moon. There's also been funding constraints and supply chain headaches that slowed manufacturing, plus they kept discovering new issues during testing that needed fixes before they'd commit to a launch date. It's frustrating to watch as someone who's invested in following it, but you can kind of understand why they're being cautious instead of just picking a date and hoping for the best.
