Why do I always think of someone right before they text me?

This happens to me way more often than it should. Like I'll randomly think about an old friend I haven't talked to in months, and then within the next hour they'll message me out of nowhere. It's happened with my mom, my cousin, even my ex. Is this just coincidence or is there something to it?

Don't chalk it up to telepathy or some cosmic connection - it's just your brain cherry-picking the hits and forgetting all the times you thought about someone and they never texted. You probably think about people fairly often without realizing it, so when one of those random thoughts happens to line up with an actual message, it feels like more than coincidence.
