Why do my brake pads wear out so quickly?

Hey, I've got a 2022 Peugeot 308 and I have to change my brake pads every 30,000 km or so. Is that normal? It feels like it's wearing fast compared to before. I don't drive aggressively either, mostly smooth highway driving. Could it be coming from something rubbing wrong or the type of pads?

30,000 km is pretty fast, yeah. First check if your discs aren't wearing unevenly or if there's a caliper sticking - if a piston isn't retracting properly, that's constant friction. Otherwise look at what kind of pads you're using, some cheap brands wear out quick compared to the original Peugeot ones. And sometimes it's just the road, if you do a lot of regular braking or you live in the mountains, it's normal that they wear faster than before.

I had the same issue not long ago, and it came down to something stupid: my brake pads were a cheap brand and they were breaking down faster than they should have. Before you go looking for a mechanical problem, just check what you put in there - budget brake pads wear out easily 2-3 times faster than decent quality ones, especially on a newer 308 that needs a bit more friction.
