Why do my eyes sting after looking at my screen all day?

JO joueur63 FR 🌱 Newbie 👁 0 ⚑ Report Vision

I work on my computer from 9am to 5pm and for the past few months my eyes have been burning really badly around 4pm. I've been wearing glasses for a long time but it's gotten way more intense. Is that normal or should I see an eye doctor?

That's clearly eye strain, especially if it's gotten worse over the last few months. When you're staring at a screen for 8 hours, your eyes dry out because you blink less often, and it gets pretty irritating by the end of the day. Try taking regular breaks (like 20 seconds every 20 minutes to look at something far away), adjust your screen brightness and don't sit too close, but honestly if it's gotten as intense as you're saying, it's worth seeing an eye doctor to check it's just that and not something with your vision correction that needs updating.
