I've definitely been through the same thing with straps wearing out super fast at that exact stress point. It's frustrating because you feel like you're not even being that rough with it, just using it normally.
The real issue is that junction where the strap loops through or attaches to the metal ring gets constant micro-movements and tension every time you move or shift your phone's weight around. If the strap material is thin webbing or low-quality nylon and the attachment point doesn't have proper reinforcement, that's where it fails first. Even moderate daily use creates a lot of friction and stress there - you're basically putting all the load of your phone onto one tiny spot repeatedly.
The best fix I've found is looking for straps that have either a wider attachment area or double-stitching around where it connects to the metal. Some brands use thicker, higher-denier materials that resist fraying better too. Also worth checking: are you accidentally catching the strap on things or putting pressure on that junction point when you're moving around? Sometimes just being aware of how you're carrying it helps extend the lifespan. That said, if a strap consistently breaks at 3-4 months with normal use, it's just poorly made - they should last way longer than that.
