Don't blame your internet right off the bat - try clearing your browser cache and disabling extensions that might be interfering. If it keeps freezing, then it could be a server timeout or token limit, so try shortening your question or give it another shot at a different time.
Try reducing the size of your question by splitting it into two or three separate messages - ChatGPT processes better when it doesn't get everything at once. If it still freezes, clear the site-specific cookies (you don't need to clear everything) and try opening it in a private window to rule out browser extensions that might be blocking large responses. One trick that works really well is copying your conversation history, closing it, and starting a new chat - sometimes the accumulated context gets too heavy and slows everything down!
The problem could also be your browser tab consuming a lot of memory if you have other things open at the same time - mobile phones and laptops do this a lot, especially if you have video running in the background. Try closing unnecessary tabs, and if your laptop has less than 8GB of RAM, that could be making things worse. But honestly, breaking the question into smaller parts (like others mentioned) really is the quickest solution, because ChatGPT processes shorter requests better.
