Android Auto keeps disconnecting from my car's head unit

I've got a 2023 Honda Civic with an aftermarket Alpine head unit I installed last year. My phone (Pixel 7) connects fine at first, but after like 10-15 minutes of driving, Android Auto just drops and I have to unplug and reconnect the USB cable. It's really annoying when I'm trying to use navigation. Is this a cable issue, software problem, or something with the head unit itself?

Try a different USB cable first - that's the most common culprit and it's the easiest fix. I'd grab a high-quality cable rated for data transfer, not just charging, since cheap ones can drop connection under electrical noise from the car. If that doesn't work, check if your Alpine unit has firmware updates available, and make sure your phone's Android Auto app is up to date too. If it's still dropping after those steps, it might be a compatibility issue between your specific Alpine model and the Pixel 7, so you could search the Alpine forums to see if others have had the same problem with that head unit.
