I've had a GTX 660 for years and it works fine, but lately when I play heavier games like GTA V or Skyrim it gets pretty hot. The fans are going full blast and I'm worried it might break. Is that normal or do I need to clean it?
With a graphics card that old, you've most likely got a lot of dust built up on the heatsinks and fans, so cleaning is the first thing I'd do. Open up the card carefully, blow out the dust with compressed air or a soft compressor, and in some cases you'll need to replace the thermal paste between the chip and the heatsink. Also check that your case has good ventilation and air is flowing properly; sometimes the problem isn't the card itself but that it's stuck in a corner with no fresh air. The GTX 660 runs hotter than newer cards anyway, but 80-85 degrees under load is normal - anything above 90 and you should start worrying a bit.
