Why does my wireless charger make the phone get so hot?

I have a Samsung Galaxy A54 and I use an Anker wireless charger that someone gave me a few months ago. The thing is, every time I leave it charging, the phone gets pretty hot, almost uncomfortable to touch. I'm worried it might damage the battery or that something could go wrong. Is it normal for it to heat up like that or should I use a different charging method?
