It works, but mostly because people end up eating less, not because of any magic in the fasting itself - when your eating window is limited, it's harder to constantly snack. It helps you lose weight about as much as any other diet you can actually stick to, nothing uniquely special about it.

Anyway, what's your eating schedule like right now and how often do you snack between main meals? Maybe the thing is you just need some kind of structure, and intermittent fasting is just one way to create it.

Анатолий Петров asker Honestly, I eat all over the place - sometimes nothing in the morning, sometimes just cookies and coffee all day. At work on the machine there's no time to eat properly, so I make up for it in the evening. Maybe I actually do need some structure.

I tried it myself - at first it seemed complicated, but then I got used to it! Because your eating window gets narrower, it really does make it easier to stop reaching into the fridge out of habit at 4 in the afternoon for no reason. But there's no magic involved: I lost weight because when you're only eating from 12 to 8 PM, it's harder to pack in 3000 calories than when your window is open from 7 in the morning! The main thing is not to turn it into an excuse to stuff your face with sausage and buns during your eating window, otherwise the whole point goes away.
