A lightweight sleeping bag made of cotton or muslin is way better than a blanket in summer, because the baby won't kick out of it as easily and then get cold. Pay attention to the right size and a low tog rating (around 0.5 to 1.0 for summer), then your kid won't overheat either. But honestly, the sleeping bag itself matters less than the sleepsuit - in the height of summer you can even skip it and just use a diaper if the room temperature is above 25 degrees. If you check on them regularly, you and the baby will both feel more relaxed.
