The range hood that's already plugged into the outlet next to it adds to the load, though it's much smaller, but the principle stays the same: two high-power appliances on one circuit is dangerous.
If you just plug the cooktop into a 16-amp outlet, best case scenario the breaker trips and cuts power to the line. Worst case - the wiring slowly overheats without you noticing, until there's a fire inside the wall that you won't catch right away. This isn't about convenience, it's about fire safety. An induction cooktop needs its own dedicated circuit with a 32-amp breaker and cable with the right gauge (usually 6 square millimeters of copper or larger).
Yeah, it'll mean calling an electrician and running cable from the breaker panel, but it's necessary. Saving 5,000-10,000 on labor definitely isn't worth the risk of a house fire.
