I have a window AC unit from 2010 that works fine but it's a power hog. I saw that the newer ones are more efficient but they're expensive. Is it really worth switching from an environmental standpoint, or should I just stick with what I've got?
If your 2010 AC is still running but uses a lot of electricity, the long-term energy savings will probably offset the cost of a new one, especially considering that current models use refrigerants that are less harmful to the atmosphere. It really depends on how long you plan to keep it and what your current consumption is like, but both environmentally and for your wallet, switching makes sense.
