Do you really need complicated accounting when starting out?

A simple notebook or spreadsheet is enough to start with - you just write down your income and expenses, that's it. Most people stress themselves out over nothing at this stage when a basic system works perfectly fine for the first few months. Once you start getting real volume, that's when you can think about dedicated software or hiring an accountant, but at the beginning it's overkill.
