Eco-friendly paint is clearly better for bedrooms, especially if you're not into those chemical smells hanging around for weeks. I only use that stuff at home now - water-based paints or bio-based ones are way less toxic, put out less VOCs and honestly they've really improved when it comes to colors and durability. The thing is it costs a bit more, but you really notice the difference when you're using it, and for a bedroom where you spend a decent amount of time anyway, it's a solid investment for your health.

After repainting the guest room two years ago, I noticed that the main difference really comes down to how long things last - eco-friendly paints don't hold up as well over time, that's true, but it really depends on the brand and quality you buy. The thing people often forget is that cheap regular paint is also gonna fade pretty quickly, so you might as well spend a bit more on a good eco-friendly one and sleep soundly without breathing in solvents. Especially in a bedroom, that's not something to brush off.

You're forgetting something important about eco-friendly paints - sure, they don't smell as bad, but you gotta check the coverage quality because some really cheap brands need two or three coats for a decent finish, and that kills your savings! Personally I like mixing both approaches - I go for a decent eco-friendly paint for the walls (it seriously changes your sleep quality, trust me, no chemical smells lingering at night) and if it's a high-traffic room, I'm careful to pick a formula that's more durable. Durability really depends on the brand too, not just the type!

You need to check your room's ventilation before you pick anything, because even eco-friendly paints can trap crazy amounts of moisture if there's no air circulation - I've seen it happen tons of times and it's a real issue nobody talks about.
