How can I prevent WhatsApp from showing that I've read messages without disabling read receipts for everyone?

I have a work group where my bosses see that I read the messages right away and expect instant replies. I need to read without the blue double check showing up, but I don't want to turn off read receipts completely because then they'll complain. Is there a way to do it just for certain chats?
