My front-load washer has been developing black mold spots in the rubber gasket around the door. I've tried running hot cycles with vinegar and wiping it down, but it keeps coming back. Is there a better way to prevent this or actually eliminate it permanently?
Front-loaders trap moisture in that seal constantly, so mold will keep coming back unless you change the environment it loves. Run a cleaning cycle with bleach or a commercial washer cleaner monthly, leave the door open between loads to dry it out completely, and wipe that gasket dry after every wash - it's tedious but it's the only way to actually keep it gone rather than just postponing the problem.
