How to make lip tint last longer without it fading unevenly?

DE Deborah IN 🛠️ Specialist 👁 87 ⚑ Report Makeup

I've been using those viral lip tints from brands like Romand and Peripera, but mine always fade in the middle first and looks super patchy by lunch. I've tried applying it over primer and setting it with powder but nothing seems to work. What am I doing wrong?

Lip tints fade unevenly because they're designed to be breathable, so they wear away faster where your lips move most - the center gets the most friction from talking and eating. Instead of powder (which can make it look chalky), try exfoliating and moisturizing your lips first, then apply the tint in thin layers and let each one set for a few seconds before adding more; this builds up color in a way that wears more evenly. You might also want to use a lip balm underneath as a base rather than primer, since primer can sometimes create a slippery surface that tint slides around on. If it's still patchy by afternoon, honestly those stains just might not have the staying power you need - some people have better luck with tints that have a bit more grip to them.

the powder idea actually backfires because tints need that slick base to stay put - adding powder makes them grip unevenly and breaks the color into patches faster. try a hydrating lip balm or lip oil under the tint instead, wait like 30 seconds for it to set, then apply your tint in thin layers rather than one thick coat. the key is that these formulas work best when they have something slippery to sit on, not something absorbent. also genuinely check if you're pressing the applicator too hard into your lips - that concentrated pressure in the center is probably why you're getting that patchy fade pattern by midday.
