It really does reduce your bill, but don't expect miracles either. It's not just marketing. The main benefit is smart scheduling and remote control - you're not going to heat to 22° when you're not home, and it programs itself based on your habits. Concretely it can save you around 10-15% on heating, sometimes a bit more if you were really weird with your old thermostat. Real savings but gradual, nothing dramatic.

With a 2015 boiler it should be compatible without any issues. Nest and Tado work with most gas systems. Before buying, you just check your current wiring - look at what's behind your thermostat now to see the wires. Most of the time it's plug and play, like 30 minutes of work. After that it's mostly about how you use it - if you leave it at 21° by default and never adjust the temperature, you'll barely save anything. But if you're the type to forget to turn it down or you really want to optimize room by room, it's genuinely useful.
