Is an electric fish scale really worth it?

It really depends on how often you go fishing and how precisely you want to document your catches. If you only cast a line occasionally, a regular scale is completely sufficient and saves you money. But if you fish regularly and want to track your success or even compete in tournaments, you'll definitely benefit from the accuracy and quick handling that an electric scale gives you - especially when your hands are wet and you'd have to fiddle around with a traditional scale.

I got one after I realized while baking that I was constantly struggling with a crappy kitchen scale - and yeah, it's also got its place when I'm fishing with the guys 😄 An electric scale really only makes sense if you fish regularly and want to document your catches precisely or need it for competitions. For casual anglers, a simple spring scale is still cheaper and does the job just fine, plus you don't have batteries that keep dying on you.
