Carcassonne is basically made for that - super easy to learn and plays well with groups without getting bogged down in competition. If you guys like to chill while you play, it's like the perfect gateway into the hobby.

Totally worth it, but let me give you a tip that sometimes gets overlooked: the game works fine with any number of players, but with 2 people it gets kind of boring because it becomes really obvious when someone's blocking the other person. With 3 or more people, that's when you get that cool, relaxed dynamic you're looking for. If your group is small, it might be worth exploring other options too, but if you can regularly get more people together, Carcassonne really is a solid choice to start with.
