It really depends on what you're planning to do with it, but in my opinion it's definitely worth it 😄 I've had one for a couple of years and I use it quite a bit when I go to the beach with the kids. The children love seeing the little fish and the seaweed, it makes everything much more fun than just playing in the sand. If you like snorkeling or diving, it's pretty much essential to have something like this to keep the memories, because afterwards it's always nice to watch the videos back at home.
it really comes down to what your budget is and how often you'll use it. if you're people who only go to the beach once or twice a year, maybe it's not worth spending 200-300 euros on a decent camera. but if you go regularly or like holiday trips to places with water, I'd say it's completely justified. there are cheaper options on the market (like GoPro or even simpler cameras at Worten or Fnac) that already give really good results, you don't need to go top of the line 📸
what I'd recommend is starting with something mid-range, test it during a summer season, and then if you like it invest in a better one. that's what happened with me and I ended up buying a more professional one because you really do use it a lot. my kids always ask to bring the camera when we go to the pool or beach, so yeah, I bought a more durable waterproof one. basically if you have kids or like documenting those moments, it's a purchase you won't regret
It really depends on what you actually want to do. Do you just want to film some little fish at the beach or are you thinking about more serious diving? Because if it's just casual leisure, a basic camera will do the job, but if you want real quality then the investment is bigger.

It really depends on how you're gonna use it, you know. if you're the type who's gonna be diving regularly, like taking diving courses and stuff, then it's actually worth investing in a decent camera. but if it's just for occasional use when you're on vacation or at the beach, honestly i think it gets expensive. you see a lot of people buying these expensive cameras and then they just sit around gathering dust at home for months, right?
what i'd say is: start with something cheaper, like a basic GoPro or even those simpler models that cost a fraction of the price. you can film pretty well in those first few meters underwater, and you'll see if you actually like it and will use it. then if you see you're using it a lot, that's when you invest in a better quality one with more features and resistance for deeper depths.
and another important thing: having the camera isn't enough, you're gonna want a decent waterproof case to protect it, extra memory card, batteries. you end up spending more on accessories than a lot of people realize. but if you're gonna really get into it, it's a pretty cool hobby actually.
