Is it worth fixing a pedestal fan with a broken remote control?

My Mondial pedestal fan has been in use for about 3 years now and the remote control stopped working. I tried changing the battery, but nothing. Do you guys think it's worth taking it in for repair or would it be better to just buy a new one? I have no idea what the repair would cost.

Before buying a new remote, really try to exhaust all the options: clean the battery contacts well with a slightly damp cotton pad, check if the battery is actually seated correctly, and test with a battery from another source (sometimes yours is weak without looking like it). If nothing works, a generic tower fan remote goes for 15-30 euros on marketplaces and is often compatible with several Mondial models, but the catch is you need to confirm the exact model before ordering, otherwise you'll end up with one that won't fit or won't pair. It's way more worth it than paying to have the whole fan fixed.

A remote control is normally the cheapest part to replace, it costs around 20-40 euros depending on the model! It's much better value to just buy a new remote than to take the whole fan in for repair or replace the entire unit.

It's really not worth taking the whole fan in for repair. Like others have said, a new remote is super cheap - and the advantage is you can order it directly from Mondial or from online stores without having to go anywhere. The only problem is figuring out the exact model of your fan to make sure it's compatible, but it's normally written on the label on the back or underneath the base.

Just pay attention to one thing: before you buy a new remote, check if it's not a battery contact issue. Sometimes the spring in the battery compartment gets corroded and you think the remote is dead. Open the compartment, clean it well with a dry cloth or a rag with a bit of vinegar, let it dry properly and try again with a fresh battery. If that doesn't fix it, then ordering a new remote is the right solution.

When mine stopped responding too, before spending money I tested pointing the remote at my phone (in camera mode) and pressed the buttons to see if it was still emitting infrared light - if you don't see anything on the screen, the remote is really dead and then yeah, you buy a new one, which is dirt cheap anyway. If you see the light, it might just be a bad contact, and then it's worth cleaning the battery pins really well with a dry cloth.
