By 2026 Flickr has fallen pretty far behind compared to Instagram and other networks. I stopped using it years ago because practically nobody's there anymore, at least not in the circles I move in. If you're a professional photographer or want a more serious portfolio, maybe it's worth having something, but for casually sharing photos there's definitely way better options where people will actually see your stuff.
It depends what you want it for. If you're a serious photographer or you want to build a portfolio, then yeah it's worth it because the community is still pretty active and the quality of the photos you see there is really good. I have an account myself but mostly just to look at landscape photos when I'm planning my kayak trips, which is what I'm into. If you just want to share casual photos with friends, Instagram or TikTok will work better for you because that's where most people are now.
It depends on what you're after. If you're a serious photographer and you want a decent portfolio with good image quality, Flickr is still solid because it keeps files without compressing them as much as other platforms, you know? But if what you want is to go viral with photos and get a lot of interaction, I'd tell you that Instagram or TikTok give you more bang for your buck in 2026. The Flickr community is more laid-back, more people who actually care about photography, so it depends on whether that vibe works for you or you'd rather something more hectic.
Flickr just isn't what it used to be. If you're a professional photographer or you're really serious about photography, maybe it's useful for having a decent portfolio and connecting with other photographers, but the reality is most people use Instagram or more current networks. Unless you've got a specific audience there or you want to archive your photos somewhere more stable than conventional social media, I don't see it being worth the effort in 2026.
