Kid's school uses Google Classroom but won't explain the password policy

My son came home with a Google Classroom password that the teacher said he needs to change every month, but there's no written policy about what makes a 'strong' password for kids this age. I'm confused whether I should help him create something complicated or if there's a standard the school expects. Should I reach out to the teacher about this?
