My 14-year-old daughter wants to get a nose piercing, how do I handle it?

She's asked several times and now she really wants to do it. I'm worried it might get infected or damage her nose, but she says all her friends have one. How do I talk to her about this without seeming like a total nag? She's a stubborn teenager and if I say no, she'll just try to do it behind my back anyway.

The issue isn't so much about forbidding it just because, but about her actually understanding the risks. Talk to her about infection, improper scarring, metal allergies - things that can genuinely cause problems - and then you can figure out together what the safest way would be if she really wants to do it. Like, let her choose a trusted piercer, check out the place's hygiene, know what material to use so it won't irritate. If you give her a say in the process instead of just shutting it down, she's less likely to do it behind your back, and you can feel more at ease knowing it'll at least be done carefully.
