Just bought some cheap compatible toner cartridges from Amazon for my Brother HL-L8360CDW to save money, but the printer keeps giving me error messages saying it's not genuine supplies. Has anyone dealt with this? Is there a way to make it work or am I stuck buying Brother's expensive original cartridges?
You're not necessarily stuck with originals, though Brother does make it harder than some brands. A lot of third-party cartridges work fine with that model, but you might need to reset the printer's memory or mess with the chip on the cartridge itself - some folks have had luck cleaning the contact points with a cotton swab or replacing the chip from an old genuine cartridge. Before going down that route though, I'd double-check what you actually bought, because there's a huge range in quality on Amazon and some "compatible" cartridges are basically garbage that'll damage your machine. If these ones aren't working, might be worth trying a different seller rather than giving up on third-party altogether.
