Old LCD TV getting dark spots on screen, can it be fixed?

I have a 2012 Samsung LCD TV that's getting dark spots appearing at random points on the screen. It's not dead pixels, more like bigger areas that get darker. It still works fine, but it's getting pretty annoying. Is there any way to fix it without spending a fortune?
