I'm trying to improve my drawings and want to switch to digital art. I've got a Huion graphics tablet that I picked up recently, but I'm not sure what software to use. Would you recommend Clip Studio Paint, Procreate, or something cheaper?

Clip Studio Paint is probably your best option because it works perfectly with Huion tablets and has professional tools without being as expensive as Photoshop, plus you get constant updates. Procreate is amazing but only works on iPad, so scratch that if you're using a Windows or Linux tablet. If you want something more budget-friendly, Krita is free and surprisingly powerful for digital drawing, though the learning curve is a bit steeper than Clip Studio Paint.

Don't just stick with the most famous options because sometimes you're just paying for the name. Procreate is fine but it only works on iPad, so with your Huion you'd need to look at other options. Krita is free and honestly for getting started with digital it's more than enough - it has decent brushes and runs without any issues on any tablet. If you later need more professional features or specific tools for comics or illustration, then you can switch to something paid, but there's no point dropping money on it at the beginning.

If you're going to be traveling or working in different places, keep in mind that some programs work better offline than others - Krita is completely local and doesn't depend on a connection, which is useful if you're heading to areas without good wifi. That said, what most people don't mention is that Clip Studio Paint now has a pretty affordable subscription version, but it also sells one-time purchase licenses, so it depends on whether you'd rather pay once or keep paying monthly. With your Huion you'll be fine with any of those options because support for generic tablets is solid everywhere.
