What kind of QR code puzzle could be in a quest game?
Did an online quest with friends, there were QR codes that opened up hints. I'm wondering, can a QR code itself be a puzzle, not just a link to the answer?

A QR code itself can be part of a puzzle if it contains encrypted information rather than a direct link - something you need to interpret.
For example, a code might contain a sequence of numbers or coordinates that lead to the next clue, or several codes form one pattern and you have to scan them in the right order, figuring out the sequence by logic.
I've seen this in escape rooms: codes would unlock parts of an image, and only when you put them all together would you get a picture with the answer. The key difference is between simply being redirected to an answer page and when the scanning process itself becomes part of the puzzle.
I saw this variant in one quest: the QR code looked normal, but you had to scan it at a certain angle or under certain lighting conditions for the hidden part of the information to appear. So the puzzle wasn't in the code's content, but in the process of "unlocking" it itself.
You can come up with other variants too. For example, several codes, each of which reveals one letter or digit, and together they form a word or number. Or a code that when scanned doesn't give you a ready-made answer, but instead presents a task - like a math problem, a cipher, or a riddle that participants have to solve themselves. The main thing is that the act of scanning shouldn't be the finale, but only the beginning of solving the puzzle.
There's another cool variant - when QR codes are placed so that their coordinates on the sheet or in the room also matter. Participants scan the codes in a certain sequence, and the results add up to a logic that leads to the right answer. Then it's no longer just a technique for hints, but a full-fledged part of the puzzle.
