It really depends on where you're watching from and how many people you want to sync with. If you guys use Netflix, there's Netflix Party (now called Teleparty) which is a browser extension and works great for that - it's free and syncs playback in real time while you chat with your friends right there. People can pause together, leave comments... you just need everyone to have Netflix, of course.

Now, if you're using different platforms or want something more flexible, Discord + screen sharing is kind of the go-to solution. It's not automatic syncing like Teleparty, but you can control everything together and the quality is pretty decent depending on your internet. There's also Watch2Gether, which is a free website where you paste the video link (YouTube, Vimeo) and watch synced with an integrated chat - like a virtual room.

A question to help me out better: what kind of content are you guys mainly going to be watching? Streaming from platforms like Netflix/Prime, or more YouTube videos and stuff like that? Depending on that I can recommend something more specific. And how many people max are you planning to sync?

ricardo84 asker Mainly Netflix and Prime Video, group of 4 to 6 people.
