5G networks at major carriers are already operating in big cities - Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, and other major metros. The question isn't whether the technology will arrive, but when it'll cover the whole country and become affordable for regular people. The rollout is slower than we'd like because of infrastructure costs and sanctions-related restrictions, but networks are gradually expanding.

For the average user, 5G will mainly bring download speeds - videos will load instantly, online games will be even more responsive, streaming without lag. But honestly, for most tasks regular 4G is already enough. 5G will actually be useful for people who work with large data volumes or watch high-quality content on the go.

As for timelines - in two or three years coverage should expand noticeably even in regional cities. But in villages and rural areas you'll have to wait longer. The main thing is, don't overpay for 5G just for the sake of it if your phone and habits don't actually need the speeds this network delivers.
