I have a small apartment in Buenos Aires and I wanted to replace my old radiator because my electricity bill keeps getting more expensive. I saw there are different types of radiators and I don't know which one actually consumes less. Does anyone have experience with brands that don't eat up so much energy?

Electric heaters basically consume the same amount: the wattage you see is what you'll pay for, regardless of the brand. A 1000W heater will cost you the same in electricity whether it's an oil radiator, a ceramic panel, or whatever, because they all convert electricity into heat the same way. What does matter is that you only use the power you actually need: if your apartment is small, go for a 750W or 1000W max, and use it only in the room you're in instead of heating the whole place. Also look for models with a thermostat that shut off automatically when they reach a certain temperature, because that actually saves you on consumption throughout the day.

The energy it consumes depends directly on the watts you use, that's true. But the trick is in how you use it, not what brand you buy. A 1000W radiator will consume the same as another 1000W one, the important thing is not to leave it on all day at maximum power without thinking.

What really makes a difference is getting one with a real thermostat. There are cheap radiators without regulation that just keep heating and heating, while the ones with a decent thermostat turn off when the room reaches a certain temperature. That saves you a ton of electricity over the month, because it's not running constantly. Before you swap out the radiator, look at simple stuff: close your curtains properly at night, seal up the window gaps, don't leave doors open between rooms if you're only heating one.
